Rainham Marshes

Sorry we haven't updated for a while.

On Sunday 5 May, we visited Rainham Marshes, and we had a bumper visit. When we arrived, we instantly heard a cuckoo in the wooded area, and went to investigate. On our way we saw a couple of Blackcap,  a Whitethroat and, a new species for us, a Whimbrel. We stayed for about ten minutes before we decided to move on. Then, we saw a fleeting glance of what at first looked like a hobby, but as we took a closer look we saw exactly what it was: a Cuckoo!!!! Unfortunately we didn't get a shot of it. 
Next, we moved on around, passing a family of geese, and a pair of hobbys.

 As we continued round, the best was still to come. We could hear singing everywhere, and we eventually caught sight of where it was coming from. Sitting on top of a bush was a Sedge Warbler.

We entered the hide next to the bush and saw two Little Grebe, being attacked by gulls for their fish, plus some very noisy Marsh Frogs. We continued round to the Kingfisher hide with high h…
