At Last The Shrike !

A cold day today with sleet and rain. Not ideal but walking weather nonetheless. Thursley again and the quest for the Great Grey Shrike !

A short (but numb) walk to Shrike Hill and lots of Goldcrest and Stonechat to keep us company on the way. We even disturbed a very noisy Curlew at Pudmore Pond

Turned out to be a great day as the Shrike was spotted fairly quickly at the west end of shrike hill. We managed to get very close and spent 15-20 minutes watching it hunt. We could have spent much longer watching this amazing bird but the cold was just too unbearable. So, the Shrike remained and continued to search for food whilst we slipped off to the warmth of the car. Next time we must remember to bring some additional layers and a good pair gloves !!
